The . is encompassed within a more wide-ranging one, the Comprehensive Heritage Refurbishment Project (PRIP) for which a grant of 1%CULTURAL was allocated in 2010 by the Ministry of Public Works.
The refurbishment of the Gate features two fundamental aims: endowing the building for its use as a town hall, and the upgrading of the spaces, materials and lighting, thus eliminating the unrequired elements and improving the general comprehension of the portal, its history and different usages throughout time.
As part of the refurbishment of the Sant Josep castle, the aim was to establish a state of “waiting” compatible with the progressive closure of the cemetery and to recover the identity of the castle, differentiating between the inherent elements and foreign additions, improving visits for tourists along with knowledge of the city of Guadalest.
The works performed on the tower of the Alcozaiba castle entailed the rehabilitation of the access point to the same, from which the finest panoramic views over Guadalest can be enjoyed, establishing a route through wholly reversable actions that stand out from the original elements.
